Brian Gordy, a resident of Muncie, Indiana, holds an fine art degree from Ball State Academy. He taught art in public schools at the academy level and privately for 25 years. A signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Ruby River Watercolor Guild, Gordy exhibits throughout the The states, and has earned numerous awards for his watercolors. His works are included in the permanent collections of The Sheldon Swope Art Museum (Terre Haute, IN), The Richmond Fine art Museum (Richmond, IN), Minnetrista Cultural Center (Muncie, IN), and many corporate and individual collections. Gordy's work has been featured in The Best of Watercolor Vol three, Arts Indiana, Snowy Egret, and Lake Superior magazines. His watercolors and original, hand-gold frames accept earned him the official designation of Indiana Artisan past the state of Indiana.

Throughout his career, Gordy'south paintings accept depicted the landscapes of the Midwest and the north woods of Michigan and Canada. A solo exhibition, "White River Turtles: Watercolors past Brian Gordy" at Minnetrista, Oct. 2007 – January. 2008, introduced a series of 35 paintings of freshwater turtles in their natural habitat. Turtles keep to serve as a discipline in the painter'due south portfolio.

"Every bit a subject, the turtle is a model of construction, role, and subtle, organic dazzler. Every bit a existence, it conjures up ancient legends and several mythological references. My intent is to show the classic beauty of the turtle form, likewise as their peculiar tendency to arrange themselves in dynamic limerick. I also hope to bring a broader man awareness to the survival challenges turtles face in the globe."
